The tourism organization, Georgian Bay Country is an initiative of the Parry Sound Area Community Business and Development Centre (CB & DC). The Parry Sound Area CB & DC is a federally supported not-for-profit Community Futures Development Corporation governed by volunteers. The mandate of the Parry Sound Area CB & DC is to be the regional economic development agency for the West Parry Sound Area.
Supporting the tourism avenue of this mandate, Georgian Bay Country aims to be the pre-eminent tourism-marketing agency for the region of East Georgian Bay.
Georgian Bay Country was established to create a marketing brand for the region of Port Severn to Killarney, including the inland communities of West Parry Sound, to develop programs and initiatives aimed at promoting increased tourism, to facilitate the development of tourism related infrastructure, attractions and events, and to be the voice for the region's tourism sector. While the promotion of tourism is considered desirable because of its favourable impact on the economy, GBC will guide all its actions with respect to the environment. Protection of the environmental characteristics of this area is considered to be essential and an overriding operating principle of the organization.

OUR PRIMARY MARKETING FUNCTIONS & OBJECTIVES
- Increase the number of tourists visiting the Georgian Bay Country
- Develop & encourage the use of a consistent theme/logo/image
- Build tourism revenues in the region by raising awareness of the area's features and benefits among the different target markets.
- Develop and execute marketing partnerships with various tourism operators in the region. This will be achieved by:
- Increasing tourism visitation from Southern Ontario and Northeastern United States (Michigan, Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania)
- Maximizing the impact in the United States markets by capitalizing on the high exchange rate and by consolidating marketing efforts with partnerships being formed locally, with a Northern Ontario Marketing Icon, a Georgian Bay Icon and Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership.
- Positioning the area as a four-season destination

We're always trying to increase awareness for Georgian Bay Country as one of the prime destination areas within Ontario. Being a four-season playground for visitors to the area, we want the Georgian Bay Country businesses/services in the area to benefit from the co-operative opportunities that arise.
